Gift giving Q and A

Gift Giving help and insight

How do I buy an affordable but memorable gift for my friend when everything I look at is so expensive? Do you have any ideas?

Buying a memorable gift for your friend need not be a costly experience as there are many items available that are beautiful and unique but not overly expensive. You might like to consider wonderful gourmet food items, or perhaps some crystal ware or an ornament. There are many stores carrying inexpensive and unusual items such as these that are reasonably priced.

I need to buy a gift in a hurry but I haven’t got the time to go to a shopping mall and look for one. Could you advise me where to find a nice gift in the shortest amount of time?

The best solution to your problem is to shop online. The great thing about online shopping is that it is open 24 hours a day and there is an enormous and varied amount of choice. You can source the perfect gift according to your price range and preference it is all available! And if you prefer, you can have the gift shipped directly to recipient, and in some cases, gift wrapped!

I am looking for gifts that are both practical to use and unique in design. Are there internet sites or stores that can offer a selection of these types of goods?

There are, indeed, many internet based websites that offer just what you are looking for. The internet is the best place to source unusual gifts and takes a fraction of the time. By giving a search engine your criteria, in this case ‘unusual and practical gifts’ you will be presented with an array of sites to look at!

Giving a bottle of wine as a gift is something I would like to do but I would like it to be received as a special gesture rather than a commonplace gift, so I would appreciate your advice on how to make this more personal and thoughtful.

A bottle of wine on its own may seem lacking imagination to some but if you decide to add a set of decanter cruets in which to keep alcohol, then your gift becomes really special. Many decanter cruets include wine glasses or goblets which are not only incredibly useful but are decorative and add a personal touch to your gift. You can be sure that this type of gift will be very much appreciated and will last for a long time and will always be a reminder of your kind gesture. Another alternative to a bottle of wine would be a bottle of Modena Balsamico. Although non-alcohol, the flavor and taste rivals that of wine on the gourmet palate, and will last much longer in the pantry.I know that traditional wedding or housewarming gifts could include teapots but I would prefer to give one that is more contemporary than the usual porcelain types and wonder if there are teapots made from any other type of material?

There are indeed other alternatives to porcelain teapots. One such alternative is the teapot made from high grade technical glass with heat resistant handles. These types of teapots are widely available and are really practical as they can be used on top of the stove.
